Bio

Peter Rice is President and CEO of Hanscom Federal Credit Union, a $2 billion+ institution that serves more than 100,000 members and traces its roots to Hanscom Air Force Base. He has testified before the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, invited by Senator Elizabeth Warren as the only credit union voice on a national panel, and he hosts his own podcast, Gaining Grit, honest conversations with veterans about resilience and leadership.

Peter grew up in Ireland, spent three years working in Japan, and speaks Japanese. He built his career in Boston banking before becoming a credit union chief executive, and he holds a master's in finance from Harvard. He serves veterans and military families on national and regional boards.

Six weeks after losing his wife to cancer, Peter took his two young sons, one of whom has a disability, to walk the Camino de Santiago across Spain. He has returned to the Camino since, across Spain and Portugal. Those roads became his book, Break or Become: How Hard Roads Make Better Leaders, a memoir about grief, fatherhood, faith, and the kind of leadership that is forged through endurance rather than control.
